The Karnataka Association for the Advancement of Science (KAAS) will, in relation to the Association’s stated objectives, strive and endeavour to observe best ethical practices. These will include but not limited to the following:

  1. Truthful and honest dissemination of scientific knowledge and technology, which is for the good of the society.
  2. Promote sound ethical practices in institutions showing due concern for the living environment, climate and the earth as a whole.
  3. Promote healthy interactions between the scientific community and general public in sensitive matters such as human genome editing, animal experiments, drug development, biodiversity, Western Ghat area development, usage of fossil fuels etc.
  4. Promote and build scientific temper to dispel wrong and inappropriate beliefs in society that are not substantiated by scientific facts.
  5. Maintain and promote scientific objectivity while being open to constructive critique and healthy scepticism.
  6. Promote activities to enhance public credibility and trust in science.
  7. Promote a culture of respect for regulatory bodies and standards.
  8. Oppose the unethical use of science by organizations to promote commercial interests.
  9. Oppose the use of science for destructive purposes.
